July 2, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. This act prohibits discrimination in public areas and provided for the integration of public facilities and schools. This act also made employment discrimination illegal.
This is considered the most important movement and civil rights legislation since the Reconstruction.
There are no problems we cannot solve together, and very few that we can solve by ourselves.
-Lyndon B. Johnson
